HEI MATAU

Hei Matau stands as one of the most significant residential projects undertaken by James Russ, in collaboration with the esteemed Bossley Architects and Bonham Builders. This grand endeavor features multiple stories within a stunning beachside property, illuminated by James' innovative lighting designs. The lights used are not only aesthetically pleasing but also fully automated, seamlessly integrating functionality with elegance. The sheer scale of the project is awe-inspiring, reflecting meticulous attention to detail and practicality. Building on a strong rapport with the client, James has intricately developed lighting solutions over the years. Through the creation of ART lighting concepts, James has redefined industry standards by offering subtle yet efficient task lighting while minimising glare.
The house features a harmonious blend of discreet downlights and continuous linear LEDs, cleverly integrated into negative spaces to enhance specific areas with focused illumination. A standout design element is the bespoke dining light—a fusion of brass accents that reflects the client's vision of warmth and sophistication. Embodying the essence of elegance, the 'Brass Sensory' dining light emits a soft glow, enriching the dining experience below. The true hero of the space is the Magnolia Pendant, spanning three floors with brass and cast glass, it welcomes all that visit into this special home.
This collaborative effort showcases James Russ's unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in every aspect of residential lighting design.
