WAIRUA

The Wairua sculpture embodies the spirit and soul of a person beyond life, serving as a symbol of interconnected experiences and journeys. Handcrafted by James, the 'Soul Map,' known as Wairua, transcends mere physical existence.

Wairua stands proudly as a large luxury wall sculpture with a diameter of 1.8 meters. Composed of beaten brass and textured cast glass, it symbolises the diverse places and bodies of water that have shaped James's identity. The interplay of light through the perforations accentuates the significance of these special spaces in James's personal narrative.

Wairua 1 is situated in the lobby of the Quincy Hotel in Melbourne, Australia.

The Wairua series is ongoing with Wairua 2 & 3 sold to private collections. To enquire please contact us here.
