James’ technical abilities were developed through studies in industrial design and years of work as a prototype developer.
With commissioned work distributed across the globe, he has worked alongside some of the world’s leading architecture firms. James’ light sculptures reflect his passion for the natural world. From camping in the dunes of the Kapiti Coast to diving in the South Pacific Ocean, his eye for natural detail is reflected in his designs.
Anna
Anna is James Russ’ Studio manger with expertise in fabric and materials. She joined James in 2011 following her work alongside top New Zealand designer, Trelise Cooper. Anna manages lighting production and client communication. Her meticulous attention to detail ensures lighting finishes are faultless.
Kuk
Kuk is highly skilled in modern industrial design techniques. Joining the team in 2016, his areas of speciality include idea generation, 3D modelling, rendering and 3D printing. Kuk is James Russ’ cast glass expert, having spent the past 5 years perfecting his methods that result in beautiful cast glass pieces.
